Bouncy Bob is a simple experimental one button arena battle game. There are two modes of gameplay – single player and local multiplayer (PvP). The 2D game world is a combination of cartoon horror, German expressionism, light humour and doodle style.
History
The game was made by two experienced developers (plus one composer), as a hobby and “something different” than the every day job (development of other games).
The final product is the effect of dozens of iterations, for example one of the first versions had “Mario style” levels, but it was not great with the games unique control mechanics so it was reworked. Another example is the arm flap/fly mechanic.
At first it was just a bug (a bug allowed jumping to be possible in mid air), but it was a lot of fun so we decided to keep it and make it as the main feature.
The game’s development took almost a year (after hours, mostly our free time and weekends).The development of this game was a lot of fun.
